How we decide

We look at one number: what one order costs.

  • GoodR250 or less for one order.
  • A bit highR250 to R350.
  • Too highMore than R350.
  • Spend moreOrders are cheap and the ad uses all its money. Add a little: 20% (10% if we are not sure). Every 2 to 3 days.
  • Leave it aloneWe just made a change, or the ad is too new. Wait and watch.
  • Spend lessWe gave it more money, but the extra orders cost too much. Go back to the old amount.
  • Put the money backSomeone cut the money, but the ad was doing well.
  • Switch it offIt spent R750 and orders still cost too much, or there are no orders.
  • Too new to judgeUnder R500 spent. Let it run.
  • One order cost, 14 daysThe main number. It shows if the ad is good.
  • 7 days and since last changeThe newest days. They show if the last money change worked.
  • Of the extra moneyWhat the added money bought. Over R350 means spend less. The ad itself can still be good.
  • Times each person saw it2 or more means people see it a lot. Get a new ad ready.
  • Clicks per 100 viewsIf the last 3 days are clearly lower than 14 days, people are getting bored of it.
  • Tired adAll three at once: people saw it a lot, fewer click, and orders cost more. Make a new ad.
  • Healthy ad, too much moneyPeople still click and are not tired, but the extra money costs too much. Spend less. Never switch it off.
  • Who changes the money?A person. This page only says what to do.

Why Meta and Converge show different numbers

  • ConvergeConverge sees every real order in the shop. It counts each order one time only. Then it looks back 30 days at what the buyer clicked before buying.
  • How Converge shares an orderA buyer often clicks more than one ad before buying. Converge splits that one order between those ads. The last ad clicked gets the biggest part. The first ad gets a good part too. So one ad can get "half an order". That is why Converge can show orders like 7.3.
  • Converge counts clicks onlyIf someone only saw an ad and did not click it, Converge gives that ad nothing.
  • MetaMeta only looks at its own ads. When someone buys, Meta gives the whole order to its ad. It does not share with other ads, emails or Google.
  • Meta also counts viewsWith Meta's normal setting, it counts a sale up to 7 days after a click, and up to 1 day after someone only saw the ad and scrolled past.
  • One order, counted many timesSay a buyer clicks a Meta ad, then opens our email, then buys. Meta says "my sale". The email says "my sale" too. Converge counts that order once, and only shares it between the ads the buyer clicked.
  • SoMeta always shows more orders and a cheaper cost per order than Converge. That is normal. It does not mean one of them is broken.
  • Example, 9 to 22 OctMeta said 229 orders. Converge said 174. Meta was 1.3 times higher. That is a normal gap.
  • We useConverge to decide the money, because it counts each real order once. Meta to see if people watch, click and get tired of an ad.
  • CheckIf Meta shows more than double Converge's orders, something may be wrong with the tracking. We check that first, before we change any money.
